A young girl is searching for her sister when she enters a strange-looking room. The room consumes her and transports her to another location. The girl is taken through four inconceivable realities. The movie has four implausible realities or chapters, and they will all be explored.
In the first chapter Gambo, we see a man scrunched in pain and a beast noise in the background. Suddenly, a gigantic white bear appears, and the injured man calls him a legendary beast, telling him to end his life. However, the bear then walks away, stopping to study something moving across the sky.
In a faraway village, people gather around a gigantic red beast that appears to be in pain. Its body structure and appearance make it seem evil. Two men go outside and discuss gods, but then cries are heard from the inside, indicating that the beast is on the loose and slaughtering the people in its vicinity. After a while, all that remains is the ruins of the former village.
A rumor about a red beast that is notorious for kidnapping and killing women suffices among the survivors. The only female left in town is one little girl, who the elders vow they will sacrifice, but she runs away. While running through the woods, she comes across a gigantic polar bear. The bear approaches her to check if she is wounded. The little girl tells the bear about the red beast that destroyed her hometown.
She begs for help from the bear. The bear soon departs on its way, accompanied by a samurai who believes it is a mystical bear known as Gambo from local folklore. The bear finds where the demons live and discover a secret lair belonging to the red monster. Inside, a girl is screaming in pain, and red fetuses are swimming in her belly, indicating that the red monster impregnated her.
The poor girl is in so much agony that she begs the bear to kill her. She claims she does not want the babies to live too, as they are evil. Gambo destroys the lair by creating a massive explosion. When the red beast returns from gathering food, it is livid and attacks Gambo. The demon appears to be stronger than the bear, so the samurai runs to rescue the bear. The monster battles both of them and then spots the small girl. It decides to kidnap and impregnate her. Luckily, soldiers appear in the nick of time and help Gambo and the samurai conquer the beast. After an intense fight, the mythical bear manages to break the demon in half and then collapses in misery as the sequence concludes.
The next chapter shown to the girl is called Possessions. It opens up with a weary man traveling through the rain and night. He appears exhausted but is immensely relieved when he spots a shady and deserted temple from afar. He enters and states that he only needs a refugee for the night. While the man chills in the dark temple, the room becomes bright. Suddenly, numerous umbrellas appear alongside a toy-looking creature.
The toy creature informs the man that the umbrellas are broken. The man confirms that they are indeed broken. He grabs his toolbox and begins mending them, including the one from the odd creature. After finishing, the toy creature thanks him for his efforts and vanishes into the wall. He looks up and discovers that all of the umbrellas have vanished.
He then goes to the room next door, where strange-looking floating ghosts attack him. Amidst the chaos, the man hears a pleasant female voice saying the spirits are beautiful and friendly. The voice comes from the lady painted on the walls, and she sends cotton sheets toward the man. He examines the sheets and notices they also need repairing, so he grabs his tools and gets to work.
He repairs them all and speaks to the lady on the wall, telling her he is sorry for intruding on her temple and asking her to let him go his way kindly. When he receives no response, he breaks the door down with brute force, only to discover tons of junk in the room next door, filling the room and emitting an odd odor. The waste then accumulates into a vast monster in front of his eyes.
As the monster rushes to attack him, the man closes his eyes serenely, thanking the spirits that inhabit the temple. He closes his eyes and wakes up in the temple in the woods on a bright sunny day, thinking it was only a bad dream, but then he notices items he repaired the night before, along with the monster’s head, and he takes them and continues his journey with them.
In the next chapter, A Farewell to Arms, we see an armored vehicle moving through the desert with soldiers on board talking about their previous missions. Then we see a shot showing how everything happens on the remains of the old world Japan we used to know has now turned into a desert, and the team approaches the destroyed city to investigate.
The soldiers have protective suits on since the area is highly toxic. As they move, one of the soldiers steps on a landmine, and we notice that someone is watching them. They notice a movement, so they disperse to secure the area. They notice an enemy, so they launch a missile carried by the drone. They decide to act, so they drop a destructive hellfire missile straight on the target, but it does not destroy it.
Their adversary is a that begins shooting at team members and successfully destroys all drones attacking it. Team members flee for their lives and change their attack tactics because every time someone tries to shoot it, it immediately shoots back, making it extremely difficult to kill.
The team members must constantly change their location, but one of them is shot anyway, so they set up a smoke screen to rescue the wounded soldier. As the wounded soldier is extracted, the team deploys everything they have, but the robot destroys the machine. They then enter a tunnel in search of the thing they came for, but another robot attacks them
As it unleashes its strength, explosions can be seen everywhere. They chose to assault it with electromagnetic grenades, which momentarily disable the robot. One of the troops goes into an armored wagon to activate the weapon they came for, which he does, but it turns out to be a terrible plan.
The weapon in question is a with nowhere to go, so it crashes and destroys the subway. Two troops survived the blast, and as they were leaving the area, the robot reappears and murders the group’s commander while naming another soldier who is actually spared.
The robot only scans and destroys targets with dog tags, and since the surviving soldier has lost his, he is no longer a threat. The machine then recognizes him as a civilian and strips him of his clothes while throwing a rock at it. The machine then leaves, and a soldier follows with a warhead in his hands. as the camera moves away, a blast is heard followed by men chanting.
As the next chapter begins, it is titled combustible and is set in Japan during the . According to the script, a violent incident literally destroyed half of the city. We then jump to a by a wealthy man, where two children, a girl and a boy, are playing in the backyard.
The following scene depicts the future.
Two ladies are sitting inside when they notice a strange odor in the air and go outside to investigate. It appears that there is a large fire near the local monastery, but nobody seems to mind and there is no concern because the next day that lady is seen working for the wealthy owners of the house.
They mistreat her, so she cries when no one is looking. She is the girl who played with the boy in that scene, and the boy is actually the house owner’s son. In the evening, while sitting alone in her room, she accidentally starts a fire. The woman rushes for help, but then changes her mind and lets the fire burn.
She has nowhere else to go and finds a tower that she begins to climb, but he warns her not to, and the tower begins to burn and explode as we watch the town burn from above.
