Mix then married Olive stokes in 1909, and they had a daughter, Ruth. The couple later divorced in 1917. Mix later married Victoria Forde in 1918 and had a daughter Thomasina Mix in 1922. The marriage was annulled in 1932. He then married Mabel Hubbel Ward in 1932.

Thomas Mix’sMix’s Film career began with the Selig Polyscope company as a supporting cast member. His first appearance was in the short film, the cowboy millionaire, released on October 21st in, 1909. In 1910, Mix appeared in Ranch life in the great South West, a short documentary film displaying his cattle wrangling skills. The film was shot at the Edendale district’s Selig studio and was a success and made Tom Mix an early motion picture star. Tom Mix did over one hundred films for the Selig Polyscope company. When Selig Polyscope faced severe financial problems, Mix signed with Fox Film Corporation.
Throughout the 1920s, Mix had produced over 160 cowboy films. These films featured contrasting action-oriented scripts and documentaries. Clean-cut cowboys ever saved the day with sharply defined heroes and villains. His movies were watched by millions of American children on Saturday afternoons. Mix tried to convince influential people in Hollywood to make movies about Wyatt’sWyatt’s legendary gunfight but the effort was futile. The two became close friends that Mix served as the pallbearer at Wyatt’sWyatt’s funeral.

On October 12th, 1940, cowboy movie star Tom Mix died when he lost control of his vehicle near Arizona. When he died, Mix was driving North from Tucson in his beloved convertible sports car. He was moving fast that he did not notice the warning that one of the bridges was out on the road ahead. The car swung into a gully, and the heavy suitcases he was carrying in the convertible’s back seat smacked him in the back of the head. The actor’s neck was broken on impact, and he died almost instantly. He died at 60 years old. His burial occurred in Glendale, California, at the Little Church of the flowers on October 16th, 1940. The funeral was attended by thousands of fans and Hollywood personalities.

Throughout his career, Tom Mix made 291 movies. Tom Mix has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame for his motion picture industry contribution. In 1958, Mix was part of the Western performers’ hall of fame at the National Cowboy and western heritage museum in Oklahoma City. A monument of stars was erected on Beverly drive, embossed with the complete likeness of early silent movie stars, including Tom Mix. There is also Tom Mix Museum in Dewey.
